How to find the Akihabara Bus Station
Please use the bus headed to Mashiko Station that departs at 8:20 AM.
Since there is no reception staff at the Akihabara Bus Station, please show your reservation paper to the bus driver in advance and sit down in the designated area.
This bus will definitely depart at 8:20 AM, so please be sure to get on the bus in time.
The last stop of this Highway Bus is Mashiko Station. You will pass 8 bus stops on the way, but please don't get off beforehand. The bus usually arrives Mashiko Station around 10:30 AM. After you have arrived, please come to the MASHIKO Countryside Tours Information Desk in the Mashiko Station building.
Before the tour starts, we will inform you about precautions to take during the tour (for example traffic regulations).
As soon as we depart the station, you will be able to see the countryside expand in front of your eyes. While you enjoy the view, let us guide you through the culture and activities of the Satoyama of Mashiko.
Inspired by the shape of the mountains and designed to blend in with the background, the "Michinoeki Mashiko" building received several awards, including the Japan Architecture Award. We will inform you more about japanese architecture during the tour.
At said building, we will enjoy the "Mashiko Lunch", which is very popular even among locals. The use of fresh and local vegetables makes the food very nutritionally balanced, also rice as well as miso soup are free to refill as much as you like.
The best strawberries all over Japan are produced in Tochigi prefecture, which of course includes Mashiko. We want you to enjoy the extraordinary taste as a dessert after lunch - let's go strawberry picking!
After the strawberry picking delight, you will enjoy about a 5km long cycling ride! Passing through the gentle hills of Oogoto Dam, a dam that stores the water in the mountains for agricultural use.
Returning back to the city center from the rural area, the last stop on our tour will be Higeta Aizome Koubou, which has a long history of craftsmanship in Mashiko. Thatched roofs, indigo dyeing kilns and plant dyieng are all designated as cultural properties and have a 220 year history.
We will be back at Mashiko Station at around 15:45. The bus back to Akihabara will depart at 16:00. You will arrive Akihabara Station at around 19:10.
